Presidential Office|15th-term President & Vice President Inauguration Ceremony Republic of China (Taiwan)

At the start of 2020, the world turned its attention to Taiwan, recognizing the choices of its people and affirming the achievements of Taiwanese democracy.

During the global outbreak of COVID-19, the world once again took notice of Taiwan—its professionalism, efficiency, and proactive strategies; its people’s unity, resilience, and kindness.

President Tsai Ing-wen has referred to Taiwan as the “Island of Resilience.” Building on this concept, the inaugural ceremony’s visual design was developed around four key themes: “Greatness of the People,” “Glory of Democracy,” “Intergenerational Harmony,” and “Walking with the World.”

Through the inauguration, the aim is to convey President Tsai’s vision of leading Taiwan toward a brighter future, advancing toward becoming a world-class nation.

The four key themes were transformed into four symbolic elements as follows:

  1. “Greatness of the People”: Represented by a tangible ear, symbolizing the government’s commitment to listening to the voices of the people.
  2. “Glory of Democracy”: Depicted by Yushan, Taiwan’s highest peak, representing the nation’s dedication to the values of democracy.
  3. “Intergenerational Harmony”: Illustrated by the imagery of holding hands, symbolizing cross-generational unity and support.
  4. “Walking with the World”: Represented by the fluttering national flag, conveying Taiwan’s confidence and its ability to move forward alongside the global community.

The color palette includes Confident Green, Resolute Purple, Selfless Blue, and Attentive Pink, adding vibrancy, passion, and highlights to the formal inauguration ceremony while evoking hope and aspiration for the future.

Honored to collaborate with Taiwan Power Company and the General Association of Chinese Culture in receiving the 2020 Golden Pin Design Award Mark in the Communication Design category.
